Work Out in the Winter: The cold weather is here! And with it, the snow, rain, and harsh conditions.

Some of us are lucky enough to experience true winter. Maybe fortunate or maybe not… but we still have to accept the circumstances since they are out of our control. They wintery weather can bring your hibernating tendencies to the surface, and the desire for inactivity may be the end result. In turn, skipping the gym may happen more times than expected. It is understandable – yet not acceptable.

Nevertheless, winter time shouldn’t be a time for sedentarism. By now it is common knowledge due to copious amounts of research that activity is mandatory to the body. Sedentary lifestyles and even “too much sitting” are associated with cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and some types of cancers.

However sometimes, the weather makes it really impossible to go to the gym, run, or train outside the house. Sometimes, you are legitimately forced to stay inside.

So what can you do when it is extremely cold and snowy, when you can’t leave the house??

Since inactivity is not an option, you have to adjust… That means that you must use what you already have and exercise at home.

Work Out in the Winter, A great way to exhaust your body is to perform calisthenics or bodyweight training. In other words, you can exercise using your own body weight. Examples of body weight exercises are push-ups, burpees, sit-ups, squat jumps, pull-ups, mountain climbers, etc.

Work Out in the Winter

How can you get a good session in?

Take a set of different exercises (for instance, push-ups, sit-ups, and burpees). Perform 20 repetitions each, with short rests in between them. Then repeat the whole set at least two more times. After you are done with those, take another set of exercises and do the same thing.

The great thing about bodyweight training is that you don’t need any equipment. You can do amazingly by just using your body. You can also make it fun by involving other members of the household. Or if you have weights in the house, it is time to dust them off and put them to good use.

Don’t think that you can be challenged or get a good workout? Perform a 3 sets with 3 exercises three times at the right pace, and your body will be begging for mercy!

So be ready to enjoy those wintery days indoors by sweating a little!

No excuses!!!
