Most people want to burn fat while retaining or building muscle mass. Dealing with an array of clients in New York and all over the world, I emphasize the importance of accelerating the heart rate. Many times I see people working out but they are not even sweating or seem out of breath. Or they perform an exercise every 10 minutes or so. Remember, intensity is key and it’s essential to keep the pace going.

Obviously weight training is a must. When training, it is great to incorporate high intensity moves between sets. A cool exercise is Skaters (Skater Hops). They are great because you do not require any equipment or a big space to perform them. You just jump from side to side while keeping the arms involved and moving fast.

Skaters accelerate your heart rate, which in turn accelerate your metabolism. Consequently, your body burns more fat. They are a whole body exercise. Yet they highly stimulate the legs, primordially the quads and adductors. At the same time, they engage the hips, arms, core, and work on balance. Perform skaters between sets and be ready to sweat more than usual  😉

Here is a demonstration:

Remember, whether you want to lose weight, tone your body, gain strength or size, all muscles must be trained.
