Favorite Athletic Gear Items

Some of my most favorite items to buy and gift are leggings, sports bras, hoodies, and jackets. Leggings and sports bras are definitely on my shopping list because I know that they feel great and offer a lot of support. I’m also eager to gift athletic outdoor jackets since they are durable, lightweight, stretchy, and wind-resistant – perfect for the winter season.

Another item that makes for a great gift is a pair of sneakers. Athletic shoes are fundamental to anyone’s fitness journey. Sneakers not only make a fashion statement but are needed for performance and injury prevention. Athletic shoes deteriorate after continuous use; they deform and lose their ability to rebound and absorb shock. This can create misalignments that lead to pain and injuries. Replacing worn-out sneakers is necessary to keep fit and healthy. Check out some tips to buy sneakers and when to replace them.

Right now, I’m very excited about Under Armour’s face masks. After the latest coronavirus outbreak, the fitness industry has endured many changes and masks are mandated inside most public places, including fitness facilities. For the most part, wearing a mask while exercising is safe but masks do interfere with natural and comfortable breathing. It’s similar to the feeling you get when you travel to locations with higher altitudes. When considering training with a mask, there are several factors to keep in mind, such as the type of exercise performed, the intensity of the exercise, the person’s health, and the type of mask you wear.

Engaging in lower-intensity exercise (light weight-training, walking, the elliptical) while wearing a mask may increase your heart rate a bit but won’t impact performance much. However, higher intensity exercise (running, cycling, high-intensity interval training – HIIT) while wearing a mask can be challenging. You may need to lower the intensity, take longer recovery breaks, or remove your mask while you catch your breath. The decreased airflow can affect breathing and your body’s ability to regulate temperature, increase your perceived rate of exertion, and decreased performance.

Another issue to consider when working out with a mask is your health. It’s not recommended to exercise with a mask If you have a chronic disease, such as asthma, COPD, mesothelioma, or pulmonary hypertension. Yet, if you are in good health but feel lightheaded, dizzy, drowsy, or experience fatigue, headache, shortness of breath, or muscular weakness, you should stop exercising immediately. Then, you should remove the mask and allow your body to recover.

The type of mask you wear while exercising is relevant as well. N95 masks are not recommended as these masks increase humidity, heat, breath resistance, and can bring discomfort. Paper or surgical masks tend to be problematic as these masks become wet from sweat and break down from the increased exhalation that takes place when you exercise. Cloth masks or those made of moisture-wicking materials seem to be the most viable option.

Under Armour started to manufacture face masks for working out when the need for a high-quality solution for athletes and gym enthusiasts was evident. They developed this product, as all of them, to facilitate training. The masks are water-resistant, breathable, and made with an anti-microbial treatment, and high-performance materials that make it hard for moisture and sweat to pass.

There is an extensive line of athletic products that you can consider gifting or buying for yourself that help promote a healthy lifestyle. Now more than ever, discounts, coupons, special offers, and cashback deals come in handy. So feel free to check out some of the sites mentioned above and save money on your gifts or your own shopping. Why pay full price when you can pay a lower price? ?
