Sometimes it feels like there are not enough hours in the day to get anything done, but when you’re trying to live a healthier lifestyle you have to find ways to exercise. Moving your body is essential for your overall health, not just for tightening your muscles or trying to lose weight. So, you have to get creative with your workouts. If you want to know how to stay active on a daily basis, we’ve got five ways to fit in exercise for you.

Not having enough time is an issue. But there’s not much energy left over to exercise when you are juggling work, children, socializing with friends, and generally trying to get life admin done. Sure, you can fit in a good boxset binge, but you’re not going to have much in you for a boxing session.

You might ask yourself whether it’s time to join a gym and let the financial cost motivate you. You might ask: Should I use a personal trainer if I have a busy lifestyle? There are so many questions that you need to answer. Nevertheless, you need to incorporate movement into your day no matter what.

Take the Stairs

A good way to fit in exercise when you’re running out of time is to take the stairs everywhere you can. Start by using the stairs instead of the elevator in your office building. You can even take bigger strides and miss every other step every time so you can add extra work out to your legs and glutes. If you don’t work in an office and you work from home, make a point of going up and down your own stairs at home every hour.

Make Happy Hour Active Hour

Instead of sitting at the bar, get together with your friends and go for a power walk. This is a great way to improve your social life and keep your body moving. You can also meet up for a class at your gym or community center. You can give yourselves the challenge to reach new lofty heights at the side of a hill or a mountain, and go and have dinner together afterward. There’s nothing worse than sitting around in the office only to sit around in the pub. You can stay healthy even if you have a desk job.

Move While You Binge

We’re not talking about food here, but TV binging. Have you got the entirety of Game of Thrones or another show queued up and ready to go on your telly? Then you can use it to move while you watch. Do some squats, do some lunges, and get some sit-ups done at the same time. Every time they say the word Tyrion Lannister, jog on the spot until the sentence is over. There are plenty of ways to fit in exercise. Moving while you watch TV can make it fun and distract you from feeling exhausted.

Stop Driving and Start Walking

You may not be able to walk all the way to work depending on the distance. However, you can drive to a certain point and walk from there. As you get used to it and the walk gets easier, stop your car a little bit earlier and walk again from there. No matter what you do, walking is really going to help you to fit in some exercise. This technique not only keeps you active but saves you money on gas.

Move and Lift

You can add strength training by incorporating resistance into your movements. If you are walking on a treadmill at home or outside, arm yourself with two dumbbells. You can walk while you move your arms, strengthening your whole body. Additionally, you can get a weighted vest or ankle weights. Compound movements are so important when you’re exercising and you can do it while you move.

As you can see there are many ways to fit in exercise. You can take the stairs instead of the elevator, make happy hour an active hour, drive less and walk more, exercise while you binge on your favorite TV, and lift while you move. By following this advice you can avoid the effects associated with being sedentary and/or overweight, which are vast and numerous.
