Being a fitness professional in New York, I am constantly being asked about training tips to target the legs and butt. Lunges are one of my favorite exercises. They strengthen and sculpt the quads and glutes nicely.  At the same time, they engage the core and cultivate balance.

There are many lunge variations. One of them is Curtsy Lunges. The difference between these and regular lunges is that they put more emphasis on the butt, as well as the inner and outer thighs.

The following video shows how to perform curtsy lunges. They can be performed with dumbbells or a barbell.

 

Remember, whether you want to lose weight, tone your body, gain strength or size, all muscles must be trained.
